Chernivtsi Regional Ethnographic Museum | Regional Ethnographic Museum was founded in 1863. Present museum (28, O.Kobylianska Street) is situated in the two-storey building of classicist style, which belonged to the Orthodox religious fund. Beginning of the museum establishment took place in Austrian age, when lovers of antiquity collected the first museum exhibits. In the Romanian period the Regional Museum was combined with the Industry Museum and was named King Carol II Museum (1935). Chernivtsi Regional Ethnographic Museum was created in 1940 on the basis of the Church Museum and Regional Museum. Reserves of the Ethnographic Museum comprise more than 80 thousand exhibits. These are unique ancient books, coins, weapons, archeological finds, collection of folk costumes. | |
